He has come up through all levels of the minor leagues and has done well at every level. He is still only 23 years old and he is a skinny kid at 6' tall and only about 160 or 170 pounds. He only throws about 90mph but has a good off speed pitch that can fool the hitters. I really believe his best years are ahead of him and it might take him some time to adjust to major league hitters. Being an Indians fan you would know better than me, but didn't the Indians have him at spring training this year for a look?

Drafted by Cleveland in the 16th round in 2003.
Had a good pro debut season in 2003, 3-1 with a 2.91 ERA in six games (four starts) at Burlington, 46 K's and 15 walks in 34 innings with 22 hits allowed. In 2004 he split time between Mahoning Valley (3-1, 1.24 ERA eight starts) and Class A Lake County (3-7, 6.53 ERA 19 games, 15 starts).
Many scouts said Laffey throws a heavy ball, a sinker, and a fastball that dip and cause batters to pound the ball into the ground. He found consistency with his delivery in Buffalo and the results have been suprising with the winning streak one shy of the Bisons franchise record.(7)
I think Laffey will go 5 innings give up 3 ER and get a no decision.

Good synopsis of Laffey in the link provided. IMO, it sounds like he is not going to be terribly successful in the majors. First a 3.28 ERA in Triple A does not translate well to the majors especially for a soft tosser. Second, it takes an extaordinary soft thrower to have a successful MLB career. The problem is that if a soft thrower makes a mistake, he gets hurt by the whiplash watching the ball fly out of the park. If a hard thrower makes a mistake, the batter still has to hit a mid-90s pitch which in an of itself is difficult.
Laffey will probably do well through his first 5 or 6 starts, but once MLB hitters see him twice, they will make an adjustment and start abusing his soft throwing.

He can't do much worse then Cliff Lee has done in this spot in the rotation. I say he goes 5 or 6 innings and gives up 4 runs. If the Indians can score some runs he might win. With a strong bullpen and some offensive the Indians will win.

I'm not sure, I was trying to find facts on him earlier, I was going to go to the Buffalo Bisons site. Thanks to everyone for the information.
I would love to see him have a great first start and of course a victory for the Tribe so we can stay in 1st place.
