We found a spider in the room the other night that resembled a daddy long legs with the exception of a larger body and a white belly. My friend took a whiff of the spider and described it as a drug trip. Hazy vision, completely disorientated, drooling, numb face, cold/numb nose, itching like crazy, nausea/vomiting, delirious.. Any clue what this thing was?

Sorry if this is in the wrong category. Couldn't find anything that had to do wtith spider questions.

It sounds like bull, but I smelled the thing too. Granted I didn't shove it up my nose, but I was there with him while he was going through all of that.

First, what country are you in?
Second, I think your friend may be on something other than spider either that or your friend just likes the attention.
Third, try posting in Entomology...that's in the science category...which no longer exists. Sorry.

Okay, I've done some research and I've found an article that asserts that Daddy longlegs do in fact stink. Here is a quote from that article:
"Daddy longlegs is reported to
give off a malodorous scent when attacked". However, it says nothing about the odor causing any kind of reaction. I think your friend is a budding Thespian.
What you saw and smelled was probably an ordinary Daddy longlegs.

If your friend did put it "in" his nose, then it is possible that he was bitten, this would account for the symptoms described. Go to the web and do a search of spiders thru images, there are literally thousands of species. Most "daddy long legs" can't bite humans, their mouth parts are too small, so this may not have been one at all. And if you think that your friend was bitten, and is still showing symptoms, take them to the ER or private doctor, and remember to take the spider along to be IDed. It will help greatly in diagnosing what is going on and what actions need to be taken.

I am sorry...I have no idea. But I hope you killed it. Or called an exterminator or something. I would have passed out just from the sight of it.

Your friend must just have a very vivid imagination.
