I am wondering when the ban will be lifted? Does anyone know? I want to buy the game, i played the first and absolutely loved it. It didnt affect me or make me go out and kill anyone. The banning is absolutely ridiculous. There are far worse things to watch, movies that are a lot more bloody and violent and they haven’t been banned. It does not make sense. Does this mean the end for Manhunt?

well, i don't think it is all necesarilly banned here in the U.S. It's banned in europe and Germany, i know that. But this might be a tidbit of info you didn't hear. It's getting an AO rating (Adults Only) so unless you can get your parents to ignore the bloodbath that is the Manhunt 2 or if you are over 18, then you can get it.

I agree with you on the whole violence thing. I've been plpaying violent games like Duke Nukem when i was seven, and i'm fine

The main argument that the anti-game campaigners have is that when playing a game you are in some way attached to the action on screen - you have direct input into what happens. Watching a film, you are a passive bystander with no influence over the events. However, the banning of Manhunt 2 is ridiculous. The first game was one of my favourites (in fact I'm annoyed I can't play it on my Xbox 360 with the VGA cable). As I've said in another answer, the whole plot of Manhunt is that you are in a kill or be killed situation. For those that don't know the story runs that you are on death row, to be executed by lethal injection. Someone injects you with a tranquiliser and kidnaps you, dumping you in a snuff movie. The only chance you have for survival is to kill everyone else for the satisfaction of the bad guy, who watches your every move and contacts you via an ear piece. The violence in the game is not gratuitous, it is necessary within the story. I know I can only speak for myself and not for the nutters who DO kill other people, but I certainly don't feel desensitised by the violence in games, or movies for that matter. I hit a deer in my car a few months ago, and it was horrible to see it, made my stomach turn over, even though I go out of my way to kill all the deers I can in World of Warcraft, and used to laugh at deers exploding in Unreal. In the 80s/90s violent movies were blamed for everything. Since then the idiots that want to ban things they've never even seen have a new enemy - video games. As they become more realistic in their presentation people are realising they have something new to blame for society's failings.

nope, the ban still stays, they could lift the ban if they removed the way u kill people, but then it would change the whole plot.

I don't think it's the end, but in it's current state Sony and Nintendo wont allow it to be released on their consoles.
According to the Rockstar (www.rockstargames.com) website they are trying to sort it out and will, hopefully, release at some point in the future. As to when, who knows?
