She showed us a few properties this past week--and, while we were looking at the last one she gave us the paper to sign. I felt pressured because she claimed how busy she was and how she was taking special time to show us the houses etc. So, we signed it and I asked her to find out how much the people paid for these properties and how long they lived there. She emailed us the answers--but, when we drove (by ourselves) we asked a neighbor, and it turns out our realtor got the information backwards--and mixed up about who purchased which one when and why the people were selling! Then she called us Fri and said the one that we expressed interest in (which has been on the market since Feb) now magically has someone who may place a bid! How do I get rid of her? And, don't I need the contract back? What do you think of this lady?
Doesn't it sound shady?

dump her and quick! And don't be afraid to be rude to these people. They are use to it. Realtors lie all the time. I am very rude to people like this. They are in it for the money. What kind of paper did you sign. Read it carefully, don't take their word for anything. She may have you signed up for 6 months or so. Check with the BBB and see if they have complaint's on this company or this woman.
Be very careful when buying a house. It is alot of time and work, but it is worth the effort in the long run. Check the interest rates and compare. It never hurt's.

To answer you question, just call her and tell her you no longer wish to work with her. I don't think she did anything necessarily wrong or shady, but maybe she could have handled things a little more professionally.

Now when you find a new Realtor, ask them up front about the buyer's representation contract. Don't sign it unless you understand it.

When I have a buyer sign, my contract states that they agree to work with me exclusively, that the commission is being paid by the seller. However, if the buyer purchases a house I have shown them within 180 days of the signed contract, they (the buyers) owe me a commission.

Sounds like you got off on the wrong foot with this Realtor. But it's obvious that you do not have a comfort level with her. So tell her thank you and goodbye.

Actually, your realtor provided you more information than she should have. When you are looking for houses, the information for which you asked is not relevant to a home purchase. Prices of other than comparable properties are not material information, nor is information about WHY the sellers are selling, nor is information about WHO purchased the properties.

As far as informing you of the potential of another person placing a bid, that IS relevant information, since it might influence your decision on what to offer, if you really want the property.

Work with this realtor and properly use the information which she provides.

Well well well....this person sounds like a pain in the butt. Her job is to PLEASANTLY show you as many houses as possible so you can fell free to make up your mind. Sounds like she just wants to make a quick sale and doesn't care about you or your feelings. I suggest you call her and tell her that you feel uncomfortable with her being pushy and you have decided to go with another agency. Don't forget that you have rights and in the end you will be stuck with a house that you don't like if you rush into something because you are pressured. Get every contract back from her. GOOD LUCK IN FINDING A HOUSE!

What did you sign? If you were the seller, it would be common for a realtor to have an exclusive contract as your agent for a period of time, but sounds kind of strange if you are the buyer. Without knowing what you signed, it's impossible to give you advice. Please read your copy and post again. You DO have a copy, don't you?
