We're thinking of buying this sofa. We know it won't be the most comfortable sofa around, but are having problem fitting a normal sofa through our door. We were wondering if anyone who has experience with similar products could let us know if they think it's really uncomfortable, etc. We do expect to keep it for a few years.

The one you show looks really comfy I think it would be great. It looks nice you can hardly tell its a futon. Also if you read the specifics on it it has an 8" foam matress on it so I think it would be just fine for the money.

if you do buy a futon sofa make sure you buy the more expensive mattress. There is three kinds of mattresses for a futon.
1. 6 inches base line

2. 8 inch upgraded materials better quality

3. 10 -12 inches mostly foam. very comfortable but you can only get them from reputable futon dealers. the best futons will be from dealers who specialize in futons and offer the better mattresses. you will see the difference because the will show you how they feel compared to the base line cheap ones. Hope this helps

You absolutely have to spend the money to upgrade to the better mattress. We have one that we love. Mission style instead of so much like a couch like yours. My ex had one in college that he slept on every single night and when my husband and I decided to get one, I helped shop for it.

We have an office and no real spare bedroom so a futon gave the sofa for normal tv viewing and extra bed for guests. However the basic mattress that comes with it, the stuffing will slip down into the bottom and the crease will remain even when you lay it down. Always put sheets on it and ours is more like this style (but not the hideous color)

And if you have one like that, keep a cover on it all the time and it will last longer. It's not that much of a price difference for the upgrade but it will last for at least 5 yrs in great shape.

if you buy the right futon sofa from the right place, it could be the best thing ever. i bought a futon from ikea and i keep it in my room for when i have sleepovers or we have family over and it is amazing. and its awesome just to hangout on when im just reading magazines or listening to music or anything.

My friend Allison has a futon and I think it's very comfortable whenever I go to her house. and whenever we go to bed I sleep on the futon, and in the morning my back is as perfect as ever!

Yes futon coaches can be extremely unconfortable, however it really depends on your preferences.
