Excerpt from page 10 of your owners manual:
"Service engine soon
Your vehicle is equipped with a
computer that monitors the engine’s
emission control system. This
system is commonly known as the
On Board Diagnostics System (OBD
II). The OBD II system protects the
environment by ensuring that your vehicle continues to meet
government emission standards. The OBD II system also assists the
service technician in properly servicing your vehicle.
The Service Engine Soon indicator light illuminates when the ignition is
first turned to the ON position to check the bulb. If it comes on after the
engine is started, one of the engine’s emission control systems may be
malfunctioning. The light may illuminate without a driveability concern
being noted. The vehicle will usually be drivable and will not require
towing.
What you should do if the Service Engine Soon light illuminates
Light turns on solid:
This means that the OBD II system has detected a malfunction.
Temporary malfunctions may cause your Service Engine Soon light to
illuminate. Examples are:
1. The vehicle has run out of fuel. (The engine may misfire or run
poorly.)
2. Poor fuel quality or water in the fuel.
3. The fuel cap may not have been properly installed and securely
tightened.
These temporary malfunctions can be corrected by filling the fuel tank
with high quality fuel of the recommended octane and/or properly
installing and securely tightening the gas cap. After three driving cycles
without these or any other temporary malfunctions present, the Service
Engine Soon light should turn off. (A driving cycle consists of a cold
engine startup followed by mixed city/highway driving.) No additional
vehicle service is required.
If the Service Engine Soon light remains on, have your vehicle serviced
at the first available opportunity."

The light comes on when the computer senses a malfunction in the engine monitoring devices. Not oil or oil change problem unless it is low of oil and the engine computer notices low oil pressure.
Take the vehicle to Autozone and have the scan the computer and give you the code, then leave, don't ask any questions after you get the code, just get the code and LEAVE. Report back with the code or go to G++gle and do a code search or go to http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/ and try to determine what may be the cause.
Now just because a code comes up doesn't necessarily mean you have to go purchase something to repair the car, it means the computer has notice a problem relating to a particular area, even a vacuum leak will cause the light to illuminate.

Best thing is take it to autozone and have them scan the computer gizmo to find out why your light is on. The dealer will also scan it for you. Depending on the code(s) you get back it probably means the the metal thing under the hood has some sensor doohickey or whatchamacallit is acting up and it`s gonna cost money to fix. Could also be you left a simple gas cap loose when you gassed up last time. Gotta get it scanned to find out the problem

the tune-up is probably due.
Do you change your oil on time?
When was last time you did a tune-up?
In a very recent posting, you talked about re programing your remote control, did you mess with anything at all?
Maintenance is a key to problem solving...
This is not meant for you, but when some people buy new cell phone they read all about it, but when it comes to vehicles, all they know it put gas and go.
Bottom line, it could be the air filter, oil change due ( if you changed your oil last year and you drove only 300 miles you still had to change it 9 months ago), spark plugs... this is only maintenance issue.
Good luck!

The "service engine soon" would normally not come on for an oil change . It is usually sensor related , and can come on if you even leave the gas cap too loose , have it scanned and report what code comes up .

It means get your truck to a shop for maintenance. Oil change....stuff like that. And for the love of God, do NOT take it to Autozone! Those people do not have diagnostic capabilities. Take it to a real shop that you trust. Don't take it to the dealer either, unless you want to pay alot of money for an oil change.
