Giving them all time off would stop spending and let present laws work. In twenty years the old ones will die off and we will have fresh blood and new ideas.We could rebuild the U.S.(long time over due) with the money we are saving. What do you think?

Term limits and an end to special interest groups would help more. Unfortunately, our system is way to corrupt to expect senators to do what is right.

It's simpler just to vote all the existing politicians out of office.

For the senate, that would take 4 years (3 elections: 2008, 2010, 2012). But the entire House is elected every two years.

Shutting down Congress for 20 years, or even 2 years, means no federal budget, no federal spending, no military at all (because of the 2 year limit on military appropriations in Article I Section 8 of the Constitution).....

With a 3% approval rating, I would venture to guess they are already off.
