Bees, wasp and hornets did not evolve on Earth to attack humans. None of them will just go after you. These insects, indeed like most animals, are programmed to protect home, mates and self. So, if you mess with them, you'll get what you deserve, chased and or stung.
One of the most common wasp that inflicts a painful sting is the wood wasp. It is larger that most wasp, aggressive when threatened and can sting repeatably. These wasp are red brown in color, an indication that it should not be messed with.
However, some of the most annoying and sneaky bees are the sweat bees. Abundant is summer. It can rest on a person and not be detected. When it starts to feed it "bites". Then you notice it.
Bees, wasp and hornets over all are beneficial insects to man. Most are predators that consume many other kinds of insects, bugs and spiders.
