i think it tells you something about the person, some of us go into more detail, some keep it short and sweet,

also, for someone like me, most questions have several possible responses/views, and if its worth answering, then why not try, in the context of this forum, to get your whole thought across

I think it depends on a few factors--the question asked, the depth of the response, and the medium through which the answer is given.

In Yahoo Answers, we find a variety of questions and some can simply be answered yes or no (which seems much more like a survey than a philosophical inquiry). We, also, find that the depth of responses range from people trying to answer in the fewest words possible to those who hope to write a book on it. Lastly, this current format does not allow for lengthy answers. I have notice that I am more likely to get "Best Answer" if I keep the response shorter without sacrificing depth. It is a tricky system.

In brief, I think that short answers often leave out any rationale, and long answer do not attempt to be efficient. We should seek a medium length answer with depth.
