If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working the way it was originally. If you using your laptop for normal stuff and not gaming. You got a good setup. You don't need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.

Firstly, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events has

a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you should clean your registry, you make more resources available for spped. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:

1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser
2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".
3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.
4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.
5. Click OK.

3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.

2. Click Run

3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"

4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab

5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

6. Click "OK"

Other great tip is increasing your virtual memory to simulate more RAM. This will give you a bit more resources for multiple program use or CPU heavy programs. Check the link to alter your virtual memory spec.

Hope this link helps. Shows you how to do everything step by step. You should get a least 60% more resources and speed

if you follow the tips.

There are different reason when computer run slow.

First of all do you know how much disk space is left on hard drive.? to check click on my computer then right click on the icon of hard drive it could be c but check in your case. You will see how much is used and how much is left.

If not enough first solve that problem. Or if got enough then check if you clean, history, internet temporary files, cookies, trash etc. If not please clean.

Even if your computer is running slow then there is a possibility you have several software running behind, when you start computer some softwares run which are set to run when computer is on. To choose which soft should run you must be sure otherwise you are requested not to do anything.
Click on green button which says, Start left bottom, in the run type command msconfig. A window will be opened. On the top among various tabs choose Startup as you will click software with check box will appear. Be sure you know which software you do not need to run. Un check click OK and restart and see if your computer is running faster or slower.

Usually the basic is, Clean History/Internet Files/Cookies/
Run Disk Clean
Run Defrag

This will change your computer performance.
After doing all this then you should proceed to msconfig/Startup as explained above.

If your computer is still running slow check memory. After that check internet connection speed. In my case I complained to internet provider and they not only realized speed from their side was slow they even changed entire ADSL modem.

Just by using various software which you are not sure about is not reccomended.

Hope this will help you and others.

You can download ccleaner for free here: http://bit.ly/1Bk5V5C

First open CCleaner
Go to the Cleaner tab and you will be confronted by a very confusing lineup of checkboxes.
To make this brief, below is my recommended setup:
Under internet explorer check temporary internet files, cookies, and last download location. Most users don't really need this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a maybe, but you don't want to lose bookmarked sites. You can normally leave Windows Explorer, System, and Advanced alone.
Run CCleaner and it will start deleting files.
afterward it will present you with a list of the files deleted, you really don't need to go through it as it will be several pages long.
The registry cleaner is recommended for slightly more advanced users. Use it after uninstalling programs as they will often leave behind incorrect registry entries.
If you decide to run Registry cleaner then review the items detected and always back up the registry (I keep a folder aside for this)
The Tools tab lets you uninstall programs and set startup programs. Why do you need this if Windows has all of these features? Especially with Vista Home Ed. The windows defender software explorer( startup programs) doesn't pick up some entries (however software explorer is easier to use).
Using CCleaner to uninstall programs and then check for leftover registry entries takes less time.
Under Options you can determine how CCleaner cleans your files. I leave this alone.

Using a registry cleaner can fix your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

Hello.Run a full security sweep (like Prevx 2.0 on a 30 day free full trial download) to start with to check for 'bugs'. Run Ad-Aware and then Spybot to see if you have any advertising software or spying software on your computer. Then do a disk defragmentation and disk check. Then clear out all your temporary cookies, files and other unwanted rubbish. It'll take hours but well worth it! Alan L.
