I can not see the picture really well, but it looks like it may be a yellow garden spider.

If it is, they can bite, but the bite will not kill you.

I can't see it very well in the picture. It does resemble some spiders I have seen in Missouri, though.

But if it's found in the USA, I would say that it is not deadly to people. It's not a Black WIdow or Brown Recluse.

That's not to say it won't give a painful bite; but I strongly doubt if it's deadly unless the individual who gets bitten has an allergy or is otherwise very sensitive.

If it's not from the USA, I don't have clue.

I believe this is probably a funnel web spider. Most are not dangerous. They are just large and scary looking. All funnel web spiders I have seen are afraid of humans and when they are approached will run back into the funnel away from you. Just think of all the nasty little flying, biting insects he is killing for you. Here a link to some info... http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2060.html

My first thought was banded argiope, but the web is all wrong (they spin a typical spider web). So I think it's a funnel web spider, check the link and if it's not browse the other photos.

It would be much easier to identify if you could get a picture from above so we can see the markings on the back. If possible, place a dime or something next to it so we can have a good idea of the size.
