I don't need some unaccountable, corrupt politicians (aka "Government") telling me how to live my life and I will never see them as 'my leader/s'. Do we even need a Government or wouldnt we be better off doing away with them all, altogether??

We do need a government. We don't need a government that has to make laws for every little thing under the sun. We need to quit putting career politicians and lawyers in office and get some ordinary folks in. Only the voters can change that.

We need a government, just not in it's present form. People believe that the government should provide cradel to grave social welfare..we should be responsible for our own lives

If you want to live in the dark ages where warlords control the little fiefdoms and dog eats dog, then you are right.

Government provides rules to live by ...rules that supposedly reflect the general acceptable behavior that we expect and want in society.

For example, if you build a house, and its a nice house, would you want some guy being able to come and tell you he wants your house and wants you to move out....because he happens to have more guns and ammo and accomplices than you do?

They do provide some good services, such as the military. One combined military gives us strength. We do have many people working for our security, and in this day in age we need them too. We can reduce the government and put much of it back in the states hands where it belongs.

A govt can do three things ---

One, provide group services that people cannot easily do on their own -- things like a national military, criminal courts, law enforcement

Two, provide group services that people could do on their own quite easily -- health care and education, for example

Three, provide a social structure that compels certain behavior so that people feel comfortable. This includes regulation of personal conduct (other than violent crimes) and regulation of business (other than directly harmful actions).

I approve of the first -- protection from external threats. I don't approve of govt involvement in the other two areas.
