Well, I don't personally think it is a bad idea. It gives the kids the illusion of independence, but it helps keep them from getting into too much stuff, and it keeps them safe! My son doesn't like holding a grown up's hand too much, and LOVES to walk. I've been considering a baby harness!!! I don't know how their dad will feel about it, though. I let him have the final say in such matters, but still... I don't think they're a bad idea.
Edit: TRUST me. I am pretty good at controlling my kids. I am a believer in corporal punishment as a last resort. Usually a stern voice is enough. But when going OUT, if my son wants to get some exercise, I am NOT against that! But if he won't hold my hand or my kids' daddy's hand(my significant other of 9.5 years), then he is being carried or put in the stroller. I don't give a darn how fussy he gets because of it! I would rather for him to be mad at me than for him to jog away into traffic or out of sight! Which is WHY I think a baby harness isn't a bad idea!
Edit 2:You are obviously NOT a parent yet! My son is only 18 months old. He is LEARNING to obey, but he isn't quite there yet! He is only a BABY! Dogs mature faster than babies. Don't be stupid.

It makes me laugh too..But it doesn't tick me off..I bought one for niece. Her mother has 2 children with a 3rd on the way and she is an awful mother who doesn't know how to watch her children at all. I thought having that might at least save one of the kids from getting hit in the parking lot!! It is a cute one though that has a monkey that goes on her back and the arms wrap around her and then it connects to the leash part.

The leashes are used to keep your kids from running away from U.
Real sad.

That sounds horrible. I've never seen what you're talking about, so I'm really in no position to judge, but I think that if a parent would just watch the kid there would be no need for a leash.

I've wondered the same thing! I feel bad for those kids... I saw this one kid last weekend with a leash around his wrist and it looked all wore out like it's attached to him 24/7, and his mom was jerking him around... I felt so bad for the poor kid.
Then again, I don't have any kids... lol. Maybe it IS a good idea?! As long as it's used properly I guess.

Leashes are for dogs not children. i left my children at home with a family member to avoid having to race around after unruly kids.

It is very practical
"Put a leash on that puppy", that's from the Usual Suspects, totally unrelated

I am one of those terrible parents. Without it, my middle son would be constantly lost, or run over. My last son is heading the same way and will probably be on a leash within a year. I know they look mean, but it is a pure safety thing for me.

You apparently don't have children!! When they are 1 to 2 years old, they want their independence and this means wandering off, occasionally. I used one on my daughter because she was so curious and would wander off from me.
I don't care if it makes you mad, as long as I have my daughter and the perverts out there don't!!!
