There are a few questions up right now asking "why do people have to have their own kids?" "Why don't you just adopt if you have fertility problems?"or "Why not just forget about it?" The one that still AMAZES ((and repulses me)) said "...are people that egotistical that they must see their DNA reproduced..?" What the heck?! This is INSANE!! Anyone else feel that these questions were wrote by people who don't understand basic biology or that got pregnant the first month, without even trying, or that has always been AMAZINGLY fertile?...
Just wondering if Im the only one thinking that this is cruel.

Im not saying not to consider adoption, not by any means. I think that adoption is a great choice, but peoples comments like this make the people on the other side of the fence feel alone, and like they are doing something incorrectly.

Def. got some answers that I did not expect. And like I said before..."there are ignorant people out there who don't understand and try to form opinions"... and that has somewhat shown thru on the answers to this questions. How could someone be selfish for wanting their own baby?...

I'm not sure what the question is, but whoever is picking on hopeful parents who want a child should get a kick.

well I had fertility issues and tried everything I could, but my husband and I decided we wouldn't go through ivf and would adopted if it got to that stage,(lucky it didn't) but I know what you mean about the questions, but most questions on here are stupid its not a serious forum there will always be people that don't understand others and there points of view that's what makes us different and its great people have there own opinions. Although it does hurt when you see things written that makes you think god they really don't know what I'm going through, buts that's the point they don't know so ignore them and just get on with your opinions and your beliefs. good luck

Some people are very quick to have opinions on things they know very little about.
I think that until they walk in the shoes of someone who has fertility problems they cannot possibly understand the emotions and issues involved.
I have never been in that situation myself so I would NEVER make comments like those because I do not know the complexity of the emotions and decisions these people face.
Comments like those only serve to make these people feel more misunderstood and alone.

How is this cruel? If you were told even fifty years ago that you could not conceive, then someone suggesting alternatives such as adopting wouldn't seem untoward. Today there are plenty of kids who already exist that could benefit from being adopted, so that option still exists for anyone to utilize.
Just because the technology now exists to make it more possible to conceive where no possibility had existed before, that doesn't mean it needs to be used or that it doesn't come without risk.
To me, it is selfish and egotistical of those who have babies that are just a by-product of having sex and end up putting them up for adoption because of it, and of those who just have to procreate even when their genetic structure would otherwise preclude this.
You're the one who doesn't understand basic biology, else you'd realize that if a woman can't get pregnant without technology intervening, then nature is trying to tell you something. That is basic biology. Anything else is ego.

I have not seen these questions!!
I am not sure I call them cruel, but I think they are useless!
People posting questions like those in the trying to conceive section do not want answers, nor convince anyone to reconsider the choice to have their own children.
I think these people are just trolling for a reaction!!!
I think if you ignore them, and not let their posts bother you...they will go away.
Good luck, and dont let them get you down.

People with their own opinions are not cruel. Theyre passionate.
I dont agree with those lines of thought at all, but i do respect their convictions.
I have my own son from my body, but we intend to adopt from here on, because the world is f'd up and there are too many parentless children to add more to the mess. Not to mention keeping children safe these days is insane.
I think people with fertility issues have every right to try to get pregnant. But to waste away their lives and dreams of children because they wont consider adoption while the treatment process is still going is kinda asinine.

On the contrary, I think people that are obsessed with having their own child are somewhat selfish....what other reason could it be?
