IDE is the port where you connect the hard disk and CDRom. an ide error means that the port si damaged or your cd rom is not well plugged.

There is an IDE bus that links motherboard IDE port to IDE drives. IDE drives include CD Rom, floppy, and hard drives.

If you have a malfunctioning CD Rom and an IDE error message the two may be related (and it seems like they most likely are related). The cause becomes the next question. It can be as simple as a loose cable, a corrupted driver, or as bad as a broken CD Rom. You will have to engage in some trouble shooting to determine root cause and ultimately the fix.
