I witness both as a job applicant, as an observer too, that they do NOT pay a living wage to many of their workers. When after the famous ICE raid on the chicken plant in Stillmore Georgia, the Savannah Morning News reporters started to interview people, they found that Walmart cashiers were quitting their $5.15 an hour job to go get the $1.00 pay raise--making a more attractive $9.00 an hour wage, at the chicken plant.

Wallie World doesn't pay well for the same reason they bargain everything else they buy down to the lowest possible price, so they can sell at a low price. If Wallie World were, in our wishful thinking, to pay a living wage to workers, then they would raise the prices of the goods and services--such as the oil changes-- they offer.

I think you should also ask this question to the Wallie World board of trustees and the executive officers. I'll get you the consumer inquiry and comments page below so you can click on it and start to send your tuppence.

Probably more effective would be to buy some Wallie World stock, then go to the Board meetings and give Lee Scott and the rest of the powers that be a clear message to the powers that be.

Walmart is a great place to shop, but a bad place to work. I worked there for one day and then I quit. They only paid $5.15 an hour. You would think I was applying for an office job or something because you had to interview with 3 different people before they hired you. Walmart makes too much money to pay their workers minimum wage.

there is not any such element as a residing salary. in case you pay all the walmart workers adequate to outlive, say $15/hr rather of $6 then costs will upward push to cover that value advance. Now the owner has to spend greater funds to purchase stuff for the condominium and his very own residence and so he will advance the lease. comparable element happens with each and every thing else. until finally the worker whose salary replaced into in basic terms greater desirable a great deal continues to be adverse. they have greater funds yet they are no added forward than in the previous because of the fact everthing costs greater.

Because Walmart is communist. They believe in subsistence wages only. That is just enough to buy food (with government help; food stamps) and pay for shelter (subsidized rent.) Walmart want to get richer from any one that is poor.
Walmart also relies very strongly on government subsidiaries like food stamps, rental assistance and public paid for infrastructure (new roads, water, sewer and traffic lights) to make that money. This is how the communists of China operate and Walmart is their biggest customer in the world.

Because if a worker quits, there will be 20 people in line to take that position. They offer minimum wage but you don't need any experience. They will hire anyone. No Offense!!

A lot of companies feel that way.

Like all other business they are trying to make money. They must pay enough to get people to work there or people would be seeking employeement else where. In areas where it is harder to get workers I am sure they pay a little more. Same way that mcdonalds, target and other most unskilled work is.

Why doesn't Target, McDonalds, Wendy's, K-Mart, Home Depot etc...etc... pay a living wage? Wal-Mart isn't unique in not paying high salaries. You get an education, you get a better job, you get paid more. Wal-Mart is a service industry job, and therefore is going to be on the lower end of the pay scale.

Have you done a search on google.com or any other search engine to do your research?

I never knew (if you're telling the truth) why they don't pay a decent wage to their workers. If they don't this is very sad and it makes me question my shopping there.

Then their prices would rise instead of fall. Cheap labor is easy to get but cheap customers are not.

Cause they're trying to make as money as they can. It will hurt the economy in the long run.
