OK, there has been ALOT of anymosity with regards to how people feel re the Mc Cann sunject, why dont we turn it into a positive, all of us for and against whast been happening and do the London Marathon next year, raising money for other children who have been abducted? The peole who are against what the McCaans have done cant say this isnt a good idea as the money wont be going to their existing fund, so all might be happy? We are all able(most of us im sure, ) that we could train all year, and come together as a unit not a group of people who have gotten carried away with this all. I know I am guilty of it, lets get together and turn this into something good?! Anyone with me? We could all get this registered so that the money is def going ot where it should be, there are alot of smart peole on both siodes who coopuld give us advice.... Am I too much of a dreamer or can it be done?

We could look intot he dynamics of it all, how to register it so that no one gets shafted money wise. That it def goes to the charity and not someones pockets. And tot hose who cant run, messages of support are good enough! Its about time we all came together, no one (well almost no one)who normally responds to posts are bad people, we just all have an opinion and thats what makes us who we are. Life would be boring if we werent different!

Jojo, I see what you mean... I just thought that any money raised could help those parents who maybe cant afford to take time off of work because of the money issue, actually could as this could even just help one family with costs. or costs for making posters, getting the word out?

ok, for those who don't run, my apologies for not thinking more about that. What about if it was half run by peole who cant manage the whole thing and for those who may be in chairs, I would be willing to push !

Dave, im no more a nasty person than you are. I disagree with you on a few things but I dont think of you as a bad person.... I have said that a few times. We just disagree and I thougth this would be a way of us all trying to get past some of the nastiness from some people.

it can be done if enough people agree to it, which that sort of charity i think alot would, i don't like the McCann's for the way they have done things, but i still wish that children who get snatched do return safely back home as its not the childs fault a sick man/woman kidnaps them, i would run to raise money for the children

I agree so much! I've wondered this a bunch of times, poorer and middle class people just don't benefit from electing republicans. And what is that guy talking about saying be happy for those who have more money than us? Yeah, let's go ahead and keep letting the rich get taxed less...just because they're rich! Good idea...And i know it's just one example but has anyone noticed how part of the reason we're in this bad situation is George Bush. I'm not saying that ALL republicans are like this though.

Always a great idea to stand behind a cause. Why not go ahead and open a website and start getting people registered? I've heard people against putting a tracer chip in children to always know their whereabouts; I think it's a great idea, too. And did you see the documentary on the dogs that if brought to the last disappearance sight of a child, can follow the sent, even if the child was abducted via vehicle! Wow...Good luck!

Sounds a good idea .. but a litle early for us to unite ..
There are already missing children charities and they liase with various agencies ..
Personally i would be happy doing such a thing if any monies raised went towards protecting children from abuse and ensuring that there was enough finincial backing to ensure new laws and guidelines were motioned..
I would happily donate to a scheme which enabled this and ensured all children were protected and silly loopholes in the law were closed ...
I would like to hope that some good would come out of this and lessons have been learnt all around ..
I would like a new law bringing out to protect children .. (maddies law ..)
i would have no hesistation in running for that at all .. but i really can not see the day we unite as closure is a long way away and me i will not rest until her parents have faced the consequences for their actions and maddie is found
Nice idea though

You sound like a really nice person.
I could 100% not run in a marathon, but I sure would sponsor you. Its an excellent idea, you do it, if not with the people from here, with the people you are friends with or your work collegues.

How very thoughtful of you to come up with an idea like that. You are right there is too much bitterness in the world today and on Y!A why should we fall out with each other about it. ☻☻☻

It's a lovely idea however, it should in no way be connected to the McCanns - remember, Maddy was willfully abandoned by her parents - she wasn't "snatched" she was a sitting duck. Perhaps Gerry and his wife would like to do something pro-active - he clearly didn't want to for his daughter so unlikely. As I predicted, Kate is now giving her story in the tabloids - at what price I wonder?

I did this last week about raising money for lost children, but all I got was apathy and comments about the McCann's. Not one person said anything positive.
I wish you luck for a great cause.

I think your idea is well intentioned but i`m failing to see the connection between raising money and stopping child abduction.
The people who do this need to be found by the police and sometimes they are organised criminals, how is raising money going to help the police.
So don`t take offence but say you raised 5 million pounds, what exactly would you do with it?

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to run the course but I would gladly put my name to backing the idea and also sponsor anyone who decides to run for any decent children's charity.
