80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Purpose...Thats exactly what life is... everything happens for a reason and everyone is on earth to serve a purpose... it is up to you weather or not you will fulfill that purpose... you may not know what your purpose is but if you follow your heart in life you will eventually know what it is...

Life is a gift from our Creator. To live and let live. Life is a privilege, a chance to explore the limits and to know the difference between good and evil and thus to be content at the end of every day.

The true purpose of life is to serve God. However, along the way, we cross paths and deviate from this purpose. That's because we are not perfect. I hope God will understand this flaw of ours and consider our fallibility as humans.

Life to me comes from my Creator.
Therefore, the purpose of my life is to live it in such a way that I fulfull what my Creator has created me for.
Not everyone believes in a Creator. Some believe they evolved from the apes; that the world and living things were here by chance. They are still searching for the purpose of their existence......

If there is an answer to this question, it's doubtful we'll ever know it...so the real question becomes, what is YOUR purpose for YOUR life?

I don't think you are going to like this answer, but you must develop your own agenda for your life. And be respectful of those around you, ofcourse, while you are trying to fulfill your hopes and dreams before it's gone too soon. I say you won't like this answer because some people want a set answer, they want to feel that it's all pre-planned.
