is it mere coincidence that they are here or do I worry about infestation in my house? The first one was stuck in a crock on my hutch. The second was flying around my house this morning and my husband let it fly out of the house. We searched the ceiling and there is no way that we can see of them getting in to the living quarters of our house. He will go into the attic when he returns from work...ideas???

when they find a way into the house, they keep coming back.... at least here they did!

sometimes, we have seen them fly in when a door is opened at night.... and we just open a window and shut the door of the room they are in, and they find their way out usually within no time. if you are brave you can 'shoo' them out... i am not so brave LOL

Two Bats MAY mean you have Bats in the attic. Over 75% of people who DO have Bats in their attics DO NOT realize it. A person MUST check for holes the size of a U.S. quarter, or larger. If any are found, they must be spackled, or plastered, to prevent the Bats from entering the living area. A very good book can be gotten (checked out) or ordered (for checking out) at most any Library, it's called "America's Neighborhood Bats" written by Dr. Merlin D Tuttle, of Bat Conservation Intl. in Austin Texas. There has to be an entry point. Or may have got into the garage while it was open then into the house. Yes check the attic, and eves, and roof peaks to your home. Might be a hole or opening somewhere. Whatever entry points are found can be covered with small holed chicken wire or metal screening.

Our last house was an old farmhouse in the country, and this happened quite often. The entry point was an old fireplace that had been closed up. We were shocked because it looked impenetrable, but we did find a very small hole where they were coming from. Just find their point of entry and be sure it's covered.
p.s. I opened the door and held a blanket up covering the next room, while my husband took a broom and shooed them out the doorway. :) Good luck!

If they are in your attic and you evict them, you might consider building a habitat or bat house on your property in order to keep them. One bat can eat hundreds of mosquitoes in one night. I wish I had them in my yard. I'm actually thinking of building a couple bat houses to try and attract them.
They are very beneficial and non aggressive. Give them a place to live other than your home and you may never even know they are around except that you will be free of the bugs. Good luck
