auntb93 i agree with you to a point. i do agree that america has been dumbed down to a mind numbing level. politics, teachers unions, media ... sure can all be blamed but i also think parenting plays a large roll in this. i was afraid to underachieve because of what my parents would do.
and you made a comment about people at YA helping to battle that. how are we helping to battle that when everyone spoon feeds answers to the requester, and not all of the answers are acurate info. wouldn't it be better for them to be taught how to find the answer or resource's to answer thier question.
polly and breezy thanks for your intelligent contributions as well.

Hi,
Some people can't help being stupid or helpless. Some people don't have a lot of common sense and if they are limited in intelligence we cannot wish for acts that might seem like stupidity to us, to hurt them. Some people need help to survive in this life. Why should they always be hurting? Is it stupidity or ignorance or bigotry to have such a narrow-minded view?

It's painful to see. The dumbing down of America has been going on ever since the teachers' union took over the public schools. The media, the politicians, lots of other people have a vested interest in ignorant sheep who will do what is expected of them. Who are predictable and safe to manage.
We here on Answers need to be a counter-force to this dumbing down.

I think you're opening a can of worms here, but I will star you.
I suppose some people may seem stupid and helpless to others, but that doesn't mean they actually are. If they are, I suppose it would hurt. I'm not really sure I follow your question. I am thinking something got you going here, just not sure what.

People are people. We are weak and strong, stupid and smart, lovable and hateful all at once. It is all an illusion - we see people as we want to see them, and perceptions make them the people we think they are.
