I believe there is. The human brain has no concept of nothingness, so there must be something that continues after death. My faith teaches that death is not an end but a transition phase, a time of rest between lifetimes.
Each lifetime is a learning experience, kind of like a year of school, and when we have learned everything our souls are meant to learn, we evolve into the being we are meant to be.
In my faith (Kemetic) we enter the Eternal Field of Reeds and live among the Gods. This is located in a vast desert and is just one oasis among many. Other oasis include a beautiful meadow called the Ellysian Fields, the vast mountains of Valhalla, and a set of pearly gates mostly obsured by clouds so we don't really know what's behind it and they don't allow visitors. They are rather private and no one from there visits anyone else. There's also a horrible smelling pit that belches fire just outside those gates that opens up and swallows the people they don't let in from time to time.
Every religion that exists or has ever existed has an oasis in this desert. Those that had no religion in this lifetime are bedouins, roaming the desert from oasis to oasis spending a night in one, then traveling to the next, learning a bit from each. In their next lifetime, they will have enough knowledge to know which one they want to have for themselves.

There is a a stream of lives we move through to attain knowledge and wisdom. We only remember after death, and, lose most of the memory and wisdom as we emerge into the next life.

death = no life.... Some believe in reincarnation, but I think we are just recycled into the earth like a box of newspaper.
The human brain can make up elaborate worlds like heaven or hell, but think about it. Your brain gives you daydreams and ways to remember the past etc. When that dies, how you possibly see or feel anything -- good or bad?
Yeah yeah yeah - your soul right? Your soul is a part of your brain, right next to your "gut instinct".
This is just my $0.02 -- there is no wrong answer if you believe something to the contrary.

Here's one interesting site. There are many others besides this one though. But, as for the thought of there actually being a heaven or hell seems less likely in the so-called afterlife. Who knows, there may be a place that these spirits or entities can congregate and control a type of energy/environmental consciousness that could be heaven like anyway.

Yes there is! True story that happened to me:
I was in my room. Suddenly I could hear my mom's voice coming from near me...she was kind of like crying. Buuut...my mom wasn't home. How could she be there? Suddenly it went away. Then I heard 3 knocks on my bedroom door; I was soooooo scared at that moment. I was home alone and who could be knocking on my door!? I opened the door, completely horrified, but no one was there. I couldn't have been imagining it, cuz it was LOUD! And then about 10 minutes later my dad phone to tell me that my mom had passed away a couple of minutes ago. Such a sad moment.
But my point is that there ISSSS a life after death, cuz she was there! Then a couple of weeks later I came home from school, and there sitting on my kitchen table was my moms wedding ring. It was supposed to be up in my parents dresser....why was it on the kitchen table? Later when my dad got home I asked him if he moved it....and he said that he didn't. So did my mom??? I truthfully believe after that....I think that when you die you just go kind of like another dimension....you can see the people on earth, but they can't see you. You can see other spirits and ghosts too.

I know where and how to go. Only you need to meditate and still your mind. You will reached to a certain level that you can `see' life after death.
