With PC unplugged, try cleaning your RAM slots w/ a small paint brush. Clean your RAM's contact pins w/ the eraser tip of a pencil. Try changing your CMOS battery, power ON, enter BIOS menu (Del or F2), load fail safe defaults, save and exit.

Sounds like your computer is holding charge, which is caused by your power supply. Unplug it, take a screwdriver, cross at least 2 of the 3 prongs on the power supply, press the power button 2 or 3 times, holding it down for 5 seconds or so on the last press, that should release the charge. As far as leaving the PC powered on, i do it, some do, some dont, it is up to you. Just consider it like a car, the longer it runs, the more "miles" the hardware has on it, and the more heat gets generated, but that is totally up to you.

make sure the ram is in the correct slot enter the bios and choose optrimized defaults if that doesn't work you'll need to slow down the timings on the individual settings on the following in the bios TCL,TRAS,TRCD,TRP,TRRD so see what kind of ram it is and go to there website and look in there forum if they have one or look in the faqs or even tech support
