I hear the most ridiculous questions from other races such as: "Do blacks in America have an actual culture?" and "how do you feel about your people being enslaved?" Why are other races being such hypocrites? They don't want a black history month, yet they want to ask you all the most dumbest questions ever. In my opinion, Black history month should be expanded, because people are so concerned about how we are (hair, lifestyle, socially). People will ask offensive questions, yet they don't want to learn about you - What?

Jewish history month? Hitler? I believe that was in Germany. I believe Germany should have a Jewish history month. What most don't realize is that America became a super power partially due to free labor of black slaves for CENTURIES. This is a MAJOR part of American society. As for the other groups, they have it hard also, but how they helped American society to grow in the BEGINNING is disproportional, especially considering how much blacks contributed and how much they've have always been hated on, even considering what they contributed. Think of all the blacks that died getting here, just to lead a life of slavery, and then dying from excessive labor. Leaders being assasinated when black people were trying to come together. And I I just hear THE MOST annoying questions about black people: "Is your hair real?", "Is it like a sponge?", "Does your hair grow?", "Why do ALL black people act this way?" WTF?!!!

because these people who ask the dumb questions know what they are doing, they are mocking the persons culture in a way, and the people who complain about black history month are just plain ignorant and stupid.

There is a lot of DUMB questions that are asked on YA's. Some of them aren't really questions, more like attacks on the black culture & race. The same ones who are against black history month are the same ones who ask dumb questions about black ppl.

Slavery was a major part of US history, but with that history also comes the fact that it was white Europeans who enslaved us, and honestly while black ppl may choose to honor our ancestors by remembering, most white ppl would prefer to forget.

Why? B/c everytime you're in a classroom for black history month & they start talking about slavery & the civil rights movement, I have no doubt in my mind that most white ppl feel some sort of discomfort. Even though it wasn't them who enslaved blacks, they represent the ppl who did just by the color of their skin.

They'd rather we forget about, so they don't have to deal with that feeling.

First of all there are no dumb questions....you may feel differently about your people being enslaved then the next guy so they have a right to ask.
Sure there are people who don't want black history month but no everyone feels this way.
You should really be a little more tolerant of people, and maybe go back to school and take some grammer lessons or something.I also wanted to applaud Chad S for making such an excellent point.

Yeah. I agree although I live in Australia and I'm not black I think black history month should be expanded in America. I think that if you want to learn more about someones culture then take the time to learn about it and if you don't then stop asking stupid questions!!

wow... some people act like blacks are so different from everyone else. they act like blacks where the only slaves in history. there doesnt need to be a black history month because of that. who cares. i dont see a womans history month, a gay history month. look at what hitler did to the jews, wheres the jew history month. its bullshit people look at black people as a different type of people. i'd say today its pretty much equal with every race here in america, the people who have been victims of a racist act. its not just blacks who have it hard, never has been, get over it
