I have 2 xp pcs connected tru lan.the connection however disconnects after a fews mins after the systems are powered on.what could be the problem.i get a warning that the system is not accessible/u may not have permission to use the network resources/a specified authentication package is unknown.the thing is that evrything is fine for a few mins after power up.

i ran network setup wizard on both pcs,i am a genuine admin,the ips are not the same for both the pcs,i have tried giving them an ip myself and also tried auto settings,nothing helped.however if any of the above are not true,how come the connection work for sometime after power up and go dead later??

Run the "Network Setup Wizard" on both PC's. There is about 99.9% chance it is in the settings.


Have you tried to "ping" one computer with the other? Or the router/modem itself? If not, try it, and if you get data loss, you may have a defective router/modem, if BOTH computers are losing internet connection. If only one is, then you have a NIC problem, or a network cable problem.

Is their any chance that both PCs have been assigned the same static IP address. This could cause that sort of behavior.

1. Reinstall one of your system and then set as client

2. If you have internet connection try to connect through Beinsync
You can synchronize the data

it means u r not a genuine administrator for the IP; but if u r still-then better get in touch with ur ISP provider
