Yes. The woman should go to her gynecologist and have some testing done, hormones, etc. to find out what is going on.

Yes, it's all hormones... Cortisol is a hormone that obese people have an abundance of, and I guess it can interfere with menstruation... work on losing weight and it should improve... even if it's slow going, a little bit of weight loss will help the situation. Also, talk to your doctor.

Obesity and diabetes and PCOS are all tightly linked. The PCOS can definitely cause cessation of your menstrual cycle. It is important that you see your primary physician or GYN to be evaluated.
