This would be funnier if you weren't serious. It's still good, though...

I said it before and I will continue to say until you get it. There is no weaker or stronger gender. Only weak and strong people. And how the hell would know what a female feels??? And how would you some what would happen in a situation like that unless you were in it??? And even if you were, no one is the same as anyone. So you can't assume things would be the same. And if a PERSON, was afraid of elevators, then they would want SOMEONE close to them to be there for them and with them. If a female would feel better with her sister, or female friends, or girlfriend, then let her have that person there with them.! Gender should NOT matter especially if you really do care for females, just as long as we ARE safe and happy.! And I do not believe there is such 'etiquette' that say a male has to push a freaking button.! but even if there were, THAT 'etiquette could argue as 'etiquette' and should have and probably did go out with elevator operators. AND, since there ARE business women, whether you like it or not, I very sure that not all females are alike because a female in business needs to ride the elevator quite often. And it would be quite a hassle, for both the male and female, if she needed a male to escort her to, on, and off the elevator every damn time.
Use your freaking head!!!

well i would understand if the women was like.. 2 - 5 because of child molesters and all that stuff and that goes for boys as well but older women?!? you need to stop being a sexist. I'm a guy and i would be freaked out if the elevator just stopped on me. Also women these days are stronger than they were before. The only reason i could possibly think of for a man to be with a women while riding an elevator is to protect her from molesters, rapists, thieves, etc. Even with that reason some women can kick butt! don't let their appearance fool you.

Would you believe I've known more men who were afraid of elevators than women? It's the small spaces. I have never had a problem riding an elevator alone, or with complete strangers. I'm one of those ones that if there happened to be a crisis, I'd be the one keeping a cool head and doing my best to make sure everyone else was safe and calm.

It's fine, hon.
Small children can push the button to get from floor to floor. So can women.
Please, please, what is the name of this etiquitte book you quote? I cannot find it.
As far as the elevator leaving her trapped, here we have phones In the elevator. You make a call. And, here we have cell phones. Should I ever get trapped in an elevator all I have to do is call my sister in law. I guarantee the thing would be moving before we were done talking. No man required.
Now, this "male guardian"....where do I go to get one? Apparently he sharpens pencils, lifts heavy caned goods in a single bound and changes channels when I lose the remote. He drives the car, and shuts off the radio (bless his heart, I hate the radio going when I have quiet time) and does all kinds of handy dandy things....
I bet he'd put the chemicals in the pool, and even fry chicken (women should never be anywhere near hot grease)....and since he would be with me watching Hallmark (everything else is not allowed)...I'd have a big strong shoulder to cry on....
Wal-Mart, you say?

I didn't know that panic attacks are gender specific. Did your shrink tell you that? Because you definitely need one with all the crazy questions you write belittling women. Oh by the way we are smart enough to push the buttons too. If we were stuck in an elevator with you I am 100% sure we could kick your ***!

actually,i was accosted in an elevator once - i was at the tag office building, which is old and usually pretty empty,i had to go to the 2nd floor to get a title, and the 1st floor has a restaurant etc... a man that was a client at my job stepped into the elevator just as it was closing, and said hello. i don't like being with strange men alone,so i got uneasy,he pulled me close to him all of a sudden, told me i was very very pretty and tried to kiss me and touched my behind - i freaked out completely. thank goodness it was a short elevator ride and the door opened..or who knows.
you never know what can happen, and it is a very unsafe world we live in. but i can guarantee that when my fiancee is with me,nothing like that ever happens. so it is good to have someone to look out for you =)

That's true, they were mostly male. They were also mostly black and operated the elevator for both genders ... so I suppose, by your own special brand of logic, that means no one can use an elevator without a black male guardian to work it for them?

whoa, from what era are you? while i appreciate the thoughtfulness and chivalry behind your logic, let me tell you that it is totally okay for women to ride the elevator without a male guardian.
we do have our own hands to operate the elevator controls and yeah, we are quite capable of standing on our own two feet. not every woman is a damsel in distress in need of a rescuer prince, okay?!

I don't care if I have to ride the elevator or not on my own, but if there are stairs there, I will always take them over an elevator.

I guess this is a 'yes' and 'no' type thing. If there's no one to be with the woman, [assuming she would have a panic attack if the elevator broke down], then she should take the stairs.
