How many chances does this guy deserve.
He sucked in Detroit.
He moved up in Miami after an injury.
Now he is 1st string due to Vick being off with his case.
Do you think Joey Harrington has a snow balls chance in hell of making a comeback?
The guy is making low wages and he is first string.

Joey Harrington deserves at AS many chances as the over rated Michael Vick deserved.

I agree with the other posters, Joey didn't have a chance in Detroit or Miami. Even Troy Aikmen stated that Joey was a good quarterback and did not deserve the blame for what happened in Detroit. The Lions CEO, Millen, was under scrutiny for much of the time that Joey was there, which resulted in fans protesting the team and even wearing the opponents jerseys to home games.

And actually, with all considered, his record is not really that much worse than Michael Vick's record in Atlanta. Michael Vick was highly over rated, if you look at the Falcons win/losses for the seasons he played and by looking at the stats. Yea, he was fun to watch, but he wasn't a winner.

As a Falcon fan I wish Joey well this season. I heard him on a radio interview yesterday, and he is articulate and down to earth. How refreshing. None of that third person crap and 'everybody will love Michael Vick no matter what he does' crap. I admire Joey, and will be rooting for him to make a good show this year with the Falcons.

Good bye and good riddance Michael Vick--

You can't make a comeback if you were never good to begin with. Harrington will be put into a role much like Trent Dilfer had the year the Ravens won the Super Bowl. He will be expected to play well enough to allow their more talented players to win the games. Basically it will be his job not to throw picks until they can get a decent QB. Unfortunately, they don't have the talent around him to expect a playoff berth. As overrated as Vick was, his ground game allowed for both production and unpredictability. Harrington is more of a classic passer, and a mediocre one at that. Expect him to be at the most, a back-up by next season. And for that matter expect Vick to be in jail or on a different team by 2008.

The last time Vick wasn't playing, I remember a guy named Doug Pederson stepped in. He is a similar type of QB to Joey Harrington, and he won his first game...but that's about it. It's a good thing the Falcons have a great running game, because Joey is going to need it, and if he has a snowball's chance, that's going to be it right there. The Falcons receivers are too inconsistent, unless they improve dramatically this year.

To be fair, he sucked at Detroit and Miami because, well, they were Detroit and Miami. They didn't exactly give him a whole lot of protection or wide receiver help to help him succeed.

And no, I don't think he will make a comeback. Not for a lack of talent, but because the Falcons team setup is setup for the talents of Michael Vick and not him. Harrington is far from the scrambling quarterback that Vick is, so unless they significantly change their game plans before the regular reason I doubt Harrington will be that successful this year.

I believe he can do alot better than vick with this offence. He has good receivers and a good backfield. He is going to have to rely on other players (something mike never did) and the coaching staff. Vick never ran the plays like they were designed to be run. He tried to be a hero all the time. I think joey has the potential to turn this into a great season for atlanta fans. I just hope they dont beat the eagles

This is his chance to shine...and probably last chance...If he fails now, it is probably safe to call him a bust...As for the low wages on first string, uh, does Tom Brady in New England ring a bell?...When he was put in, he was making the minimum...But, you saw what happenned there...and obviously, he renegotiated his contract...So, if by some miracle, Harrington leads the Falcons to the playoffs and becomes Comeback Player of the Year, people would be like Michael who?

There is only so much a QB can do when he doesn't have much of a team around him. Of the three teams he has played on this one should work out the best. Warrick Dunn and Alge Crumpler are the best players he has had the pleasure of playing with. With that said this year will still be a struggle, given this team is breaking in a new head coach. I don't think they will finish better than third in the division, but he should statistically have his best season.
