I'm sorry to use a cliche but if he can't do the time, he shouldn't have done the crime.
I'm sure the family of the train engineer would love to have him with them at the age of 77, paralysed or not. Sadly, because of Biggs and the rest of them, they will never get the chance to see their loved one grow old. If he genuinely felt any kind of guilt or repentance, he would not have buggered off to Rio for 30 odd years.

Considering that , Ronnie Biggs , killed someone , is not the reason , the system wants to keep him locked away , It is because he stole from the royal mail , and then went on the run , making the justice system look foolish idiots
Now when someone gets life , the sentance is 15 years , and most people are able for parole after 7 years , if not before
While I do not condone what Ronnie Biggs did , I think yes they should let him out , for what time he has left , after all he came back , of his own choice

No.
He is a 77 year old man who took part in a robbery (and murder) who escaped justice for 30 years to live the high life.
THE ONLY REASON HE CAME BACK TO THE UK WAS HE WAS ILL AND HAD RUN OUT OF MONEY AND COULD NOT AFFORD THE MEDICAL CARE IN BRAZIL.
He has contributed nothing to this country in terms of taxes and yet decent people are having to fund his hospital treatment / Prison costs through their National Insurance / Taxes.
Also - USE THE SPELL CHECK and why pick on Muslims? Most of them are hard working peace loving people.

If he were to commit that crime to-day it is doubtful that he would be sentenced to more than 10 years. has he been a danger to society for the last 35 years? is he a danger to Society now? How much is it costing to keep him in prison?

Unfortunately it would set a precedent that it's OK not to serve your full sentence,he evaded prison and he lived the life of luxury for years, he committed a crime he has to do the time.
Lets not forget that Ronnie Biggs was on the run for 35 years!!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/august/8/newsid_2714000/2714055.stm

Why did he come back? Because he spent all the money and thought he be let off, by planing the age & illness card! We would have to pay for him to stay in a nursing home, and he would take up a place from a tax payer. He'll be dead soon, no point in moving it.

They should keep him alive and suffering for as long as they can. He is going to live the rest of his life with his family. Bubba his dance instructor. Big Billy the man who showed him the many fun games for the shower. This pig will die in prison.

I certainly do agree that Ronnie should be released. At the time he was sentenced, along with the other lads who showed a bit of initiative, the worlds' press made the observation that in Britain you could murder kids, rape women, kill soldiers but don't steal government money. Mr. Biggs and the other members of the team were 15 years ahead of Margaret Thatchers philosophy of enterprise and a free market economy. Banged-up for 30 years?, they should have given all the boys who took part top level cabinet jobs.

I don't think that showing a bit of compassion for an old man who managed to give Britain such good entertainment value for over 30 years would be a bad thing.
It would free up a place for someone who really needs to be in jail to keep out of trouble!
