Depends on if they are listening or not.

Depends on if they WANT to understand.

After a certain number of attempts, if no luck, I stop trying.

Good morning! :-))

It depends on the people. But whether it's people or dogs or horses, the first step in communication is certainly to get attention. In all cases, quiet persistence, and timing, does that better than shouting, I reckon. Then the message has to be in a form they are capable of understanding at that time. So it has to be not only within their capacity for comprehension, but directed to what they are able (and willing) to focus on at the time of the message. That's why we find "the penny dropped" although it's been being tossed to us for years and we've missed it. But you have to allow for the great human inclination to avoidance of anything that might undermine preconceptions, or convenience. Look at religion, economics, and much else!

It depends on the person. My baby is at the stage that repetition is key! : ) So, I guess I repeat myself over a 100 times a day for her benefit. As for my husband, he is pretty good at listening to me, but I have to give him little reminders when it comes to scheduling and such. My sister and mother have this thing that they have arguments that consist of saying the same exact things, but just in different ways. If I am around, I usually have to say, "Stop, you are both saying...." And then they say that they didn't realize it! It is soooo silly; they just don't listen to each other, because they are both so engrossed in being the right one!

My teenagers pretend not to listen and usually pay attention when they are hit with a consequence they don't like.

Other adults pay attention the first time. Not a problem.

If these people are of my hubby type.. mmm.. I believe that I may say the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.. and over again.. and over again.. then they'll still win because I give up.. :-))

But, to get hubby's attention is easy.. just need a little eenee mini tiny kiss... and the attention is also eenee mini tiny.. haha..

Take care, Moon. have a great weekend!

When it's something they want to hear, one time is alll it takes. When it's something I want them to hear, but they don't care about, it takes at least fouir times.

Good morning Moon!
You have a wonderful weekend, too!

Some peiople are only interested in what they have to say! They do not care what the other person has to say, nor do they even pretend to listen! It is the "ME" syndrome!
Once in awhile
I wanna talk about me,
I wanna talk about I
I wanna talk talk about number one,
old my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know,
what I want, what I see
How I like talkin' 'bout you you you
you usually
But occasionally, I wanna talk about me

We talk about your dreams
and we talk about your schemes
And your high school team
and your moisturizing cream
We talk about your mamma
up in Muncie, Indiana
We talk about your grandma
down in Alabama
We talk about your guys
of every shape and size
The ones that you despise
and the ones you idolize
We talk about your heart,
'bout your brains and your smarts
About your medical charts
and when you start
You know talkin' 'bout you make me grin
But every now and then
I WANNA TALK ABOUT ME!
