8 or more times per day is too much... it may be a sign that you've got an overactive bladder. If that's the case, then you've either got to put yourself on some sort of schedule and only allow yourself to go a certain number of times a day (and slowly decrease the # of times each day until about 4 or less trips) OR you can try some type of drug like Detrol LA. However, I suggest that you put yourself on a schedule first because that doesn't require you to take any type of medication (and is free). You need to re-teach your body how to control your urges.
Just keep a log of bathroom visits. Count how many trips you did in a day, and see how far apart those trips were from each other timewise. Then, try stretching out the times to about 2-4 hours in between trips. Keep to the schedule for about 5-7 days, and if you're not cured, then you should probably see a doctor.

This could have something to do with your bladder. Sometimes bladder infections can cause people to pee more, but if there's not pain or weird colors, I'd say you were just drinking liquids at an inconvenient time of day, and they're ready to be released when you're asleep.
Go to the doctor just in case
Good Luck

How late are you drinking your last fluids of the day?
You should cut yourself off from drinking or eating at about 8 p.m. Try it for a week, and if you feel like peeing at night, hold it. Train your body to wait until morning. Eventually you'll get back on track.
I'm 26 and had the same problem, this is what I did.

I was having that problem and it was especially troublesome if I had to drive long distances. One night I was getting ready to leave my son's house in Oregon and head for my place in Arizona.
We had bought a four-pack of Guinness Draft Beer and I had two of them. The next day I drove 12 hours and only had to pee once...I could not believe it
Don't substitute this for real medical advise, but it really seemed to work. And I don't have to keep drinking the stuff, just once a month or so.

I would suggest you limit your liquids after supper and see if this helps. Also keep track of how many times a day you have to go.
You could have an over active bladder, or it's possible you have diabetes. If limiting your liquids at night doesn't help, you should see a doctor just to make sure you don't have diabetes. If it turns out to be over active bladder, there are medications to help that.
