My mother and I were talking about this earlier. I am from New York originally, home of what seems to be the oldest bridges ever built. Until this week I had never given it a second thought driving across the bridge. but now, I must admit I do have concerns. Similar to 911, I have not flown since 2000, recently I had to fly from California to New York on business, and I was a nervous wreck, almost to the point of tears. I had never had that problem before, so I think the tragedy of 911 affected me. In addition several of my friends for when I was a EMT, died in those towers. I'm sorry I strayed from your inital question. Yes, driving over a bridge will worries me somewhat. I definitely will be more attentive. God was definitely watching over those vehicles that day, considering the time of day and the amount of cars, it is nothing short of a miracle that more people didn't perish.
I do agree with the other answerers, you can't worry about everything that happens, so maybe I should say I have new concerns instead of worries. It is true we can't worry about everything but we also need to be aware and concerned. After all things like this as unfortunate as it is brings awareness to the powers that be to check on the bridges, which is what happening here in California.

I'm not worried at all...
I understand why some people are but it's rediculous...
I mean it's not the first time a bridge has colapsed,
There was always a chance that one could collapse, but people were never affraid of it before
And like the 911 attacks now people are affraid to fly because they're affraid of a plane crash, well there was always the chance a plane would crash, but people weren't affraid of it before...
It just takes for it to happen to scare some one even though they knew it could happen...
I don't get it really...

Sort of. I seem to mentally cross my fingers for luck any time I enter a tunnel or go over a bridge. Heck ever since a crane flattened a car and driver in Boston I do the same thing when going by construction. But any thing can happen where ever ones drive.

Every time I am on a large concrete structure with my mom she is uncomfortable. I always tell her to relax, it wouldn't be so heavily used if the structural strength was in doubt. She's always like, you can't trust everything built by humans. pff whatever like the bridge we're on could actually collapse!
And now to have such a big event happen 20 minutes away... doesn't shake me much. Then again, I'm only a teenager who fully trusts just about everything. ha, someday I'll learn.

If you let that get to you, you would never leave your home. Why?? Cause of all the other worldwide tragedies would make you agoraphobic.
Did 9/11 stop you from flying or going into skyscrapers?
Would the Chechnya school massacre of 2004 stop you from going to school?
Does the sinking of the Titanic stop you from going on boats?
Lets shrink it down a bit...
Have you ever gotten a sunburn...did it make you stop exposing your skin to sunlight?
Have you stubbed your toe on a table leg or such? Did you stop walking then??
Has coffee or tea ever burned your tongue? Do you stop drink those beverages?
Because of and from these experiences we learn and improve.
My answer is no.

I always did (hate driving over them). I had a dream or vision in the 70's of trying to drive along a multi-lane highway (and there were not so many of them back then) and all the bridges and overpasses were down. In this premonitory dream or vision, I had a gun rack in the back window of my vehicle (and I was quite a pacifist back then). It was extra-ordinary and I never forgot it.

Do you worry about a plane crash, or a train crash, or a car crash, or a cycle crash, or getting knocked down by a car, getting shot by a maniac.......they are all in the news everyday. You cannot stay indoors all day. You could actually fall down stairs so just forget the possible and live your life normally.

no its silly to worry about something like this. the reason it was so shocking is becuase it almost never happen.
If it happened alot then it wouldnt be so shocking and however shocking this incedent was it will inrease the saftey of bridges everywhere. as we type people are ordering bridges inspected and re-inspected
