You see this is what people don't understand...
First...your question wasn't a bad one...It is a legitimate question..
But truthfully, we won't know until history has a chance to see it span for the next decade. I do think history will vindicate him...

Bush appointed two supreme court justices, and did the right thing by going into Afghanistan. He shouldn't have gone to Iraq, at least not for the reasons he stated. 911 killed the economy, both by the stock market drop right after it happened, and then by the gas prices raising because of the two wars. Even if we didn't go to Iraq, I think gas prices would be three and a quarter or so. While under his watch, we have opened up trade agreements with a lot of countries, and to a certain extent I think he helps keep N Korea in check. To correct some factual errors of posters ahead of me, the housing market isn't in a terrible state, and even if it was, Bush had nothing to do with it. Right now a lot of markets are correcting, like in parts of California, where people are amazed that no one wants to pay 450k for a 700sf home next to an airport. Also, part of the housing boom, and bubble, was subprime loans. Now that some are defaulting, big governement(at the city and state levels) seem to think it's a good idea to close off mortgages in general, or at least make them much more difficult to obtain, and low and f ing behold, when there is no one to buy the houses, the prices drop. Also, as part of the housing boom, there were a ton of new home builders, that exceded demand(for some reason they thought it was a good idea to build more homes than there are americans) and that has led to a surplus. In any case, Bush had absolutely nothing to do with it. Also, you stated that Saddam only killed 5k of his own people. That was one instance where he dropped gas on his own people. There were 10s of thousands more that dissapeared. Did you ever see the video of him murdering the Iraqi congress when he took power? He would call out someone's name as a traitor, and then that person would be taken outside and shot. Also, Saddam started 2 wars, one with Kuwait, and one with Iran. He was responsible for a lot more deaths than Bush ever was. As I said, I don't think we should have gone into Iraq the way we did, but please get your facts straight when bashing The President of the United States. Did the poster above me seriously say that Al queda is Bushes fault? I guess the agruement could be made that if Bush 1 wouldn't have put bases in Saudi Arabia, Osama wouldn't be mad at us, but the Cole was bombed under Clinton's watch, and 911 was underway long before B2 took office. I am in no way a Bush fan, but the bashing on here gets a little retarded.

Why is every one blaming Bush...? Do you think he has capacity to do anything? Come on people...even in ancient times the real evil guys were...ASSISTANTS...(king's foul, emperor's wife and etc.) If you blame blame the whole bunch, ok?
Speaking of new concepts that America (Bush Administration) gave our world...
Once a symbol of freedom and democracy now America has state of DEMOCRACISM!
Another great concept is DOUBLE-STANDARTS which perfectly modified by US government...(Best examples are Turkish-Armenian, Turkish-Kurdish conflicts, and many other conflicts that so called 3 world nations can not resolve on their own because big mama America has to have a share in their mess...White mama's burden???

his highlights
no child left behind- a controversial attempt at with holding funding from or closing schools with low performance in an attempt to give better education. Critics argue that closing schools, creating more crowding and ousting bad teachers when we just don't have enough teachers anyway, is not going to help tons.
war- you know
that's it
he had a "conservation" bill which allowed oil drilling on nature preserves. not exactly conservation.
he outlawed gay marraige- good for the fundies
got rid of our rights- habeous corpus, right to trial, right to privacy (warrantless wiretapping), took away free speach (no showing dead US soldiers, barred unfaithful media from press conferences)
Fired all the democrats from the attorney generals office.

Not at all. He has never done one good thing for America.
Terras is wrong. He raised unemployment drastically, lowered it somewhat, and it is on the rise again. Record low unemployment was when Clinton was President. That's a fact. Bush has been hell on the economy.
He allowed 9/11 to happen, did nothing about, and attacked the wrong country. We are less safe than ever.

He is a typical republican president...but dumber than them all.
He has lowered taxes for the rich in the time of war (his war, based on lies).
Well, he hasn't done well for the little guys. Hopefully you Canucks have room up there. I'm thinking if our next president doesn't fix things soon, there may be an exodus of dissatisfied Americans headed north!
