look up under the kitchen sink where the disposal is.....see if the gnats are down there....sounds like the lady has a broken drain line somewhere and the gnats r gettign passed the trap that should hold them back......and about the disposal......the gnats live on the waste in the disposal and the drain line going to the trap.....ask her to call a plaumber and have those pipes replaced with new ones then check for the broken pipe......if not broken pipe just continue to run water down drain twice a day for about 10minutes each time for a week or two.....with thte new pipes and the constant hot water that shoulkd rid u of ur gnat problem

There has to be raw food in there, I don't understand the problem, if you've cleaned it, that should solve the problem without insecticide, Your doing something wrong.
Run hot water, drizzle it and then run a little Dawn dish soap, again drizzle it enough to keep the noise down then you'll know it's working, let it run for a few minutes and it should be clean.
The gnats are coming from somewhere else and are going to the disposer for water, check around for fruit, there has to be raw fruit around and open.

If running the disposal with dish soap and HOT water in there doesnt work, try vinager. Pore a bottle of it down there and let it sit in there for a little bit then run the disposal like normal. It will rid the pipe of them for at least a few weeks (unless more food is left down there)

Flying insect spray works really well, but they can take a few weeks to totally disappear. If your landlady is really dirty, report her to the housing board because sooner or later you may find yourself dealing with something worse than gnats! You do run the risk, however, of loosing out on cheap rent but...
Good luck!

We recently had gnats in our kitchen and I could not figure out why.... The kitchen was spotless, no bananas sitting around, no nothing.... It was driving me crazy!
Then I realized that I had potatoes in the bin and they had gone bad... the gnats were attracted to that....
Check the potato bin.

Outdoor patio fogger from black flag. Flying insect spray squirts to much of a stream to use indoors. Patio fogger or yard guard wood be best. Everytime you see them, spray them, till they dont come back no mo.

This works really really great. Get apple cidar vinegar, put it in a small glass (half full) drop about 2 drops of dish detergent in the glass. Sit the glass in the area where you have nats. The vinegar will attract the nats and the dish detergent will keep them down to the bottom of the glass. Good luck. Put glasses in as many areas as you need to.
