The only reason they would be against you marrying someone 4 years older than you is because maybe you are like in your teens and she is in her twenties. So, how old are both of you?

If that's not the case, then if you two love each other, then marry her. But, there has to be a reason why both families are against you two.

tell them with a older woman, she is more set in life and has her running day behind her.that she knows what she wants in life, and(hopefully)has a good job.that love has no barriers and age is just a number.tell them its something you are going to do and hope one day to have their blessings.you could elope at the court house and then after being together for around 5 years, have a wedding on your anniverary.that way it will be a lot happier for the two of you knowing your parents see how it has made it that far.

In the end, it is you who will be living, eating and sharing a life with this person...not them. My brother married a woman 10 years older than him and she is the best thing ever happened to him!

Are you sure it is the age difference and not something else?

It's not the age but the relationship, if you love each other it's no ones business but your own. My husband is 9 yrs older, my daughter lives with a guy 7 yrs younger. Live for happiness and joy.

4 yrs isn't that big of a difference. Age is nothing but the # of yrs you have been here. If you both are truely in love the rest will come together. Families included they can't fight it forever

This is impossible to answer. How old are you? How old is she? If she is 34 and you are 30 then no particular problem. If she is 20 and you are 16 then it is a BIG problem.

You can't change their minds. If you all really love each and want to be together then you will have to give up your families. IT happens alot it has / is happening to me.

Is it the age that both sides are against or is it something else? You should find out.

marry her... do what you want, and families will eventually, with time, get closer...
you cant change their minds, but they will see you love each other, so they wont be against it anymore.
