Do you think scientists will discover ways to change the genetic code to prevent future disorders and sickness because plenty of them are determined by your genes and environment, sometimes just your genes alone. Heck, your cells determine your age. If we knew how, we could change them to change our age., but I'd rather live life normally. Anyways, will there be "cures" for all these genectically-based illnesses in the form of a shot?

They might actually be in the process of doing this now. I'm not exactly sure of the basics of what they are doing, but I know recently they have made some breakthroughs about how to actually change genes before a child is born. This could stop mental illness and other diseases caused while still in the womb. I'm sure if they can change a gene before someone is born, they may be able to do it later in life, although deformities may be a problem...
Anyways, I guess eventually this stuff will happen. Way after we kick the bucket, though, unfortunately, I dont think WE have any hope.

There are things that scare me about gene manipulation. As someone with 2 diseases that are both inherited from my genes, one of which has disabled me, of course I see the positive side to manipulating the genes and being able to surpress certain things at the gene level. It's worse for me as I'm adopted and neither disease was expected to show up. I have psorosis, a very bad case, and it didn't show up until I was 56 years old. My auto-immune disease is so rare that nobody caught it in time to keep it under control, and certainly I am the only one in my family to have it. If it could have been located in the gene stage my entire life would have been much different.
But on the other side, I fear that there will be people who will use this not only to change genes for diseases, but it will get out of hand and people will change things like eye color, skin color, shapes of bodies, etc. It will be used for things that I find to be trivial in comparision to the necessities of life saving needs.

If we knew how to make ourselves younger through cell research, than it would work on the viruses that plague the world.
It would reduce them back to zero, theoretically
All and all,
The human race is The virus of this planet, self destructive in nature, when we go all but the critters and crawlers will be gone.

i don't believe we will really get that far. we have tried with cloning and stem cell research, but there will be protests from religious and private parties that provide a sort of hinderance by appealing to the public through the media.

They already have gene therapy for some diseases, and there'll be more all the time. I think the possibilities are exciting.
