Core2 Duo is faster. In benchmarks below, the 3.0Ghz X2 6000+ just had somewhat comparable performance as C2 Duo E6700 (2.66Ghz). Intel's E6850 (3.0Ghz) at 65 watts would easily beat X2 6000+ which draws as much as 125 watts.

The intel core 2 duo is faster. That is depending on which AMD your looking at. If your looking at the top AMD processor its a pretty close comparison. Not to mention much cheaper. And as the other person said, clock speeds (ghz) means nothing anymore.

I would definetly go with the Intel Core 2 Duo, mainly because it's a quad core processor.

may be i should explain to you that clock speeds on processors matter no more .and on efficiency front intel core 2 duo tops amd chips and also in power consumption and keepin itself cool ,as of now intel rules the processor area ,which will continue for another 2 years when amd finds a way to introduce better chips than what intel proposes.
