There are pretty strong arguments for each, it mostly comes down to personal preference. As far as new models go, I think ford is better hands down. Look at recent reliability ratings, and Ford easily beats Chevy. Don't believe me? I'm sure you will believe Edmund's, JD Power, and Consumer Reports, all three of which have Ford ranking higher than Chevy in reliability. The Fusion is better than the Malibu, the Focus is better than the Cobalt, the Mustang is better than the Monte Carlo (yes, they do compete with each other, as they are both sporty coupes) and the Five Hundred/Taurus is better than the Impala. The Explorer is better than the Trailblazer, the Escape is better than the Tracker, the Edge is better than the Equinox. The Silverado 1500 is better than the F150, but the Superduty is better than the Silverado HD. It is really a toss up between the Tahoe and the Expedition. The Corvette is better than the GT500.

As far as old cars go, each had their good models and bad models, but Chevy has more good old cars than Ford.

Chevy by far, I've owned nearly 40 Chevys and 1 Ford that I had rebuilt 3 times and went through 6 clutches. Ford also just put out a recall for 3.6 million vehicles. Simple choice

Motor Trend, Truck Trend, & Consumer Reports have given new Ford cars & trucks the top mark. The 2010 Mustang has outranked the 2010 Chevy Camaro. The F150 was ranked as "truck of the year" by several publications. In the category of trucks, the F-Series are still the best selling trucks. All bias aside, dollar for dollar the Chevrolet is cheaper to mod, any year, any model. The parts are more "universal" and are in large supply by manufactures all over the country. Ford builds hard working trucks & long lasting cars. Ford cars/trucks are still widely used as emergency vehicles all over the U.S. (Fire, Police, etc.). From the factory, Chevrolet's power ratings are slightly higher. Ford's fuel economy is better. GM is broke; Ford has managed their assets well. Instead of listening to hear-say & bias opinions, I find if much simpler to answer this question using statistics, personal experiences, & facts. In the end, you will never get a straight answer to this question, because everyone suffers from brand loyalty.

Generally.....a Ford truck will outdo a Chevy truck, but a Chevy car will outdo a Ford car. A stock Z06 vs. a Mustang for example. A Ford truck rules. A Ford car don't.. What do I know...I drive a 1961 pontiac.

I say Chevy and Ford should get together and build the Ultimate Truck. They can call it the "Cherd/Frovrolet 'Chuck Norris' Edition" Truck. C'mon, Who's with me?
