Hi there, I know what that feels like because something similar happened when I was about 12 years old, and I remember having a hard time sleeping. It's hard to feel safe again. I think that you might do better if you keep yourself exercising in the mornings to the point where you really feel better because of the adrenaline. You can tell when you're at that point because your body will be tired but your mind should feel more rested. You should literally be excited to wake up in the morning rather than too scared to fall asleep at night. And hopefully at night you will be too tired to want to stay up. Another thing I would do is start some nighttime rituals. I mean find some tea that works for you like chamomile or something that you like to take that might have some natural sleep aids in it. I also mean find a really good book to read so that you want to get to bed so you can find yourself in the next chapter. Nothing scary if that's not what you can handle; just read what feels right to you. And I definitely mean do something that is good for you, like rubbing yourself with moisturizer or brushing your hair and your teeth so that you yourself know that you are being taken care of. If you still have issues by the time your head hits the pillow, try writing about them. Sometimes it helps just to visualize or verbalize what it is that is freaking you out.

I love being home alone. I wish my husband would go away more often. We used to spend our summers apart, but then I became disabled and he now feels like he has to take care of me, but I still like to be left alone. But, then you are 19 and I'm a hell of a lot older than you are. I also don't know if it's the difference of location. Part of the year I live in a high security apartment in Manhattan and part of the year I live in the woods in Mass, but, even though it's the woods, it's in a very upper class community,, and the cops drive by all the time.

Only when I am having a seizure- like I did Sunday night. That sucks. Other than that, being home alone is no big deal. Even hearing the crazy people in my neighborhood is not a problem compared to seizing.

no, I spend most of my time alone so it doesn't bother me as much any more. At least I try to not let it get to me. Hey, I've got Yahoo, for company. What else do I need. ( OKay, don't answer that, I already know what the answer is! )

Thank God I hadn't gone to sleep yet cuz the noise would've REALLY scared me.

but other times (when fridge isn't crazy) i'm cool :)

My sister makes fun of me still because I still will check and double check every door and window in the entire house when I'm home alone and I'm twice as old as you.

I'm 28 and I still feel a little afraid without my good friends Smith and Wesson by my side.

Nah, I enjoy being home alone, so i can ponder. Also, I have my two dogs. Above all, I enjoy the peace and disturbance-free atmosphere.
