I've climbed it many times and in all seasons
Hiking is and climbing is definetly a thing you can do. You can drive up to the top on the MT Washington Auto Road or take the cog railway up.
The town of N.Conway NH is where most of the partying happens in the area.N Conway has restaurants , hotels .bars shops etc...
All in all it's just a really neat place to be if you like doing outdoor stuff

I'll give you one valuable tip: check the weather.

I took the Cog Railroad up on an iffy weather day. After about 20 minutes, we were in the clouds, and visibility was virtually zero. It stayed that way for more than 1:40 as we went to the top. Not much of a view up there, either, so it was into the gift shop and then back down the railroad.

So make sure the weather is clear before you make that sort of commitment. It is a great area, as the mountains and lakes are beautiful.

I have driven and hiked up Mount Washington several times. It is above tree line and has spectacular view weather permitting. Dress warmly even in the summer as it can be in the 30s. There is an observatory and snack bar at the summit. The hiking is some of the best in the east, but be prepared for bad weather and weather patterns make dramatic changes quickly all year round.
