There could be a parallel between Faust and Icarus. While Faust toyed with powers that he probably shouldn't have had, Icarus did too by building wings out of wax and feathers to fly. When he flew too high, he got burned. His wings melted and he crashed.

um, faust does. as the other person said, the little mermaid could be argued, as well as snow white, or even sleeping beauty, if you think about it.
