Being only 20, you haven't worked a job long enough to prove you are reliable. You will have to have a co signer, maybe your parents, but don't be surprised when no will co sign either. You will most likely have to save up the total cost and buy the car cash. Some credit card companies will give you a low limit card, so you can establish your credit. Say a $200 limit. Buy some thing and pay it off, keep doing that and they will increase your limit. You can't be late on any payments and it will take time to build your credit history. Welcome to the real world.

Getting a credit card with a small limit is a good idea (avoid Discover; I've heard a lot of bad things about them). You can also take out a small loan and pay it back, which will build credit without actually getting a credit card. They even have special types of credit-building loans where they lend you up to the amount of money in your savings account. You can get one of these even with the worst credit. Good luck!

Sounds like your only options is buy here pay here or cash for car. Unless you have a good cosigner. I know it doesn't make sense. You need job history to get a job. And you need a car to get to work so you can pay for the car. Starting out is so hard. When buying something with credit they want credit history. Try to see if you can get a building credit loan. Usually smaller amounts that establish your credit. You would need good long job history to get it most likely.

When your first starting out it's hard to get anything unless you establish your credit. And the fastest way to do that is by getting what they call a co-signer. And unfortunately that's how everyone will be until you establish credit. Because having no credit is basically the same thing as bad credit. Hope that makes sense? Good luck, i know it's hard but keep your chin up and think positive.

It isn't, they do it all the time. At your age, why in the world don't you have a credit history built up already? When I was 20 I had a university degree, had started my first professional job and bought a new car a few months later.
Guess if you can't solve this, you'll just have to save your cash, and buy yourself a used car.

welcome to the real world, the best way to build up ur , or start a credit history is go to a bank that reports to all those places, and borrow a couple hundred dollars, do not spend it, wait a few months after u make ur payments on time, then pay it off, then borrow a little more and do the same, you lose a little money each time you do that but you build up your credit

Attack this problem with a solid plan.
1-Join a credit union
2-Obtain a secured credit card (avoid excessive fees.)
3-Make small monthly purchases, and always pay off on time.
4-Talk with the credit union loan rep, they may work with you.
It will take you about 6 months to 1 year to build decent credit.

Start building your credit. This is something you will need to do anyway, for the future. You need to earn the trust to buy big ticket items.
You might have to start out buying a car from an individual. A car is not a right, it's a privilage. Don't you worry, you will get one and when you do you will so appreciate it.
