I agree with the tub of soapy water idea... but I would use cold water, not hot...

Fill a pail with detergent and water, submerge the flowers in the water for about 1 hour. Shake the flowers inside the soapy water gently, remove and rinse with clean running water. Voila!!!!! Of course you need to spread them out to dry over an old towel in an air-conned room or in the sunlight.

Take an old nylon and rubber band it over the hose of
a canister vac., then vacuum the flowers. The nylon
stops the vacuum from sucking up the flower petals
and leaves off, while taking the dust off. This is also good
for vacuuming knick knacks, wood frames etc.

the only thing I ever do is fill the sink or a bucket with hot water and a little cleaner of your choice
like simple green, liquid comet, formula 409, orange cleaner, or vinegar
I just shake them upside down in it, and side to side
swishing it
then I shake it dry and place it upside down on a towel leaning it against the bathroom wall or mirror whatever is at your sink
[[ that's the room where my flowers are ]]
it ain't perfect but I don't think they'll ever be clean again
the washer won't work for mine
they are a little more fragile than what the washer could handle

Ive heard that you put them in a bag with rice and shake the bag. The rice cleans the dust from the flowers.

I fill my kitchen sink with hot water and a touch of detergent and swish them around in the mixture. Then I drain the sink and rinse well and set out on my porch to dry. Always worked well for me! :)

I always just put them in the washing machine with my delicates. Be sure to wash them on the gentle cycle or they will come apart.
