As a temporary test, try disconnecting the vacuum hose to the EGR valve. Sometimes these go bad and come on fully instead of gradually as they should.

Check your fuel. Water in the gas can cause this problem. I think this model has a drain plug in the bottom of the fuel tank. Do outside.

Check distributor rotor. They are most likely to show problem at idle and under initial load.

Also could be sign of a bad distributor ignitor. Put a test light on your coil neg. side. If ignitor is going bad, the car will stall when you check for signal from the distributor to the coil in this way. With good ignitor, the car will keep running.

Usually a fuel filter problem will show up in high fuel flow situations, like getting on the freeway or climbing a hill.

maybe install a new fuel filter. it could be a bad sensor. and sometimes even tho you have new plugs and wires, they can yet be bad when purchased new. could have sum gas on the plug(s). it could also be the (spelling?) distributer cap.
the fuel filter would be the last thing i'd try if it is located in the gas tank, as that would be heck getting to.
no machanic here, but have watched my dad 4 sum time and when my cars mess up, i tell my hubby wat i think is wrong and 90% of the time, i'm right... :>)

Sounds like your clutch might be on the way out. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Just a word to the wise: when things start going bad,one right after the other, it's time to unload a lemon.
Best wishes.
