Henry invested $12,000 in a new restaurant. When the restarant was sold two years later re recived $27,000. FInd the avg. annual return by solving the equation 12,000(1 + r)^2 = 27,000

According to your equation:

12000(1+r)^2 = 27000

dividing by 12000
12000(1+r)^2 / 12000= 27000/12000

(1+r)^2 = 2.25
Square root

1+r = 1.5
Minus 1

r = 0.5
