I love these neo-cons with faulty memories that claim Cheney never linked Hussein with 9/11.

The truth is that Vice President Cheney has often asserted that there were extensive ties between Hussein's government and Osama bin Laden's terrorist network; and called evidence of a link was "overwhelming." He also said in a speech that Hussein "had long-established ties with al Qaeda."

In late 2001, Cheney said it was "pretty well confirmed" that Sept. 11 mastermind Mohamed Atta met with a senior Iraqi intelligence official before the attacks in April 2000 in Prague, but Cheney later said the meeting could not be proved or disproved.

He also said, "The Iraqi government or the Iraqi intelligence service had a relationship with al Qaeda that stretched back through most of the decade of the '90s." Shortly after Cheney asserted these links, Bush contradicted him, saying: "We've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the September 11th." But Bush added: "There's no question that Saddam Hussein had al Qaeda ties."

Despite that, Cheney repeated several months later his view that Iraq was tied to al Qaeda, saying that "there's overwhelming evidence" of an Iraq-al Qaeda connection. He said he was "very confident there was an established relationship there."

So if by saying that Cheney never linked Iraq to 9/11 you meant that he's done it over and over and continues to do so, that would be correct.

All the data from the international community dating back before Clinton supported that Saddam was a state sponsor of terrorists and either had or was developing wmd technology. No one has ever claimed Iraq was involved with 9/11, but our efforts there to confront the evil that cheers our demise is a noble one. But this constant suggestion that Bush/Cheney lied is absurd on it's face. The ENTIRE intelligence community worldwide thought this to be true, it was not an original idea by this administration. Please get over it.

I have no memory of such a claim by anyone in the administration. I would venture to say that Americans on their own, after realizing it was a terrorist strike deducted that it could have been Iraq involved. I, as I'm sure many Americans, had never heard of al-Qaida before Bush's state of the union address.

Because he's appealing to the brainless people who voted for Bush.
Most people in the real world knew this was a lie which is why Germany and France refused to get involved in the invasion of Iraq

Since Mr. Cheney is not part of the Executive branch of the presidency, he can say whatever he wants.

I find it very odd that a man with zero military experience, who got four student deferments and a fatherhood deferment seems to know EVERYTHING about the military

"Because I knew it would be an easy way to get the American people behind what I've always wanted to do--invade Iraq and build permanent military bases as a way to exert American power and influence in the Middle East for the next century. And besides, war is good for business."

Of course, that's only if he were being honest...

Actually he did. Well! He and bush have been and still are claiming this, if they said different now and admitted the truth they would be labeled flip flopers and we can't have this now can we. To hell with the truth, the lies must be maintained.
