Having American Indian and French ancestry is not weird at all; in fact, it is commonplace because of the early French influence in the 1700s. Many fur trappers were French and primarily traded with the Indians. They also married Indian women--a most common occurrence.
Your friends need to read some American history.
As an added note, the French have been so dominant with American Indian culture that many Nations bear a French translation as Nez Perce = Pierced Noses; Sioux = cutthroat.

The French colonized Canada and the US from 1500's. they were marrying native women for 400 years at least. So it is not weird at all.

Honestly, I can't see the Native American but it may be the photo, you look more Irish. That's really cool that you're in the Cherokee Nation. I'm half Taino and Spanish. Do you participate in Pow Wow's? ^_^ Those are great!

Well, given that there certain tribes that have a lot of French surnames now due to history, doesn't seem so weird. Have heard of odder mixes before.
