You can try to put in a tampon again. But if it just is not happening than you are probably best saying to your grand mother that swimming is not an option for you because it's "just one of those days" or "one of those days I'm not feeling well".

Trust me, she'll get it.

p.s. I'm sorry about your mom. Mine died too.

im 16.i know exactly how u feel. I have a very heavy flow and i am a swimmer. But dont worry. b/c it usually flows less in the water-when u take a bath u usually dont let out a flood and turn the water into a red river right? try it out just to see.I also can tstand tampons b/c i can never really put them on and they are so uncomfortable having to walk around with that jammed up in there. Not to mention it could fall out or the string could escape and dangle in the air(happened to a friend). What I do is put on a pad, then thin underwear(think see thru) and the bikini over so u cant see the wings and so it is held in place. I also wear a towel to put on immediately after the water. ALso i usually put some bandaids near my inner thigh so if blood starts dripping or goes into the water i could say it is from the cut and get out of the water "b/c of sharks being attracted" Good luck. email me if u need any help with girly stuff @ sakurablossomgirl16@yahoo.com

You should try using smaller tampons. Maybe your vagina is to small for those tampons. That happens to a lot of girls. I'd say to best tampons to use are tampax pearls. Those are the best ones.. That's what I use. And believe me when I first started to use them, I didn't like tampons. I still don't. But it's the only way you can still go swimming. Some tampons hurt me when I put them in. But if you use the ones i recommended you'd be able to get it easy. Just put the plastic in your vagina and push the pushy thing in and there it goes.plop...in...good luck.

It takes several tries before you get the hang of inserting a tampon.

If you want, you can use a little KY on the applicator to help it slide in easily.

Use the skinniest kind they have.

Remember, you have two pair of double doors (lips) to get by. You may have to wiggle a little right to left to get around both sets until you're inside. Once inside, push further. If you can feel it, it's not far enough inside.

This is something every girl has to go through. It's not hard, but it does take practice. Try again.

C'mon kitty, it's time for bed.

First, read the insert that came with the tampons. It will give you pictures and directions to help put a tampon in correctly.
You'll need to relax (try breathing deeply), which will help your pelvic muscles stop flexing and make it easier to put a tampon in.
Remember, your grandma was a girl once too, and she had a period. She knows what it's like.

Suggest a tourist attraction instead and if that doesn't work tell the people that you saw a cockroach on the pool deck once and your scared of swimming (for the time being)

Just tell her you can't go swimming because you have your period and you can't wear tampons.
She is a woman too and will understand more than you think. :)
