This just means to plug -1 in for x in the equation, and then simplify to see what you get. This is easy in this case...

f(x) = 4x - 3
f(-1) = 4(-1) - 3
f(-1) = -4 - 3
f(-1) = -7

So, your answer is f(-1) = -7.
