What sort of commitment are you wanting to make?

I had some friends who wanted to change their wedding vows to....
"I promise to stay with you for as long as I love you" - DAH!!!!!! Now what kind of commitment is that?

Needless to say the minister refused to marry them if they only wanted to do it for as long as they "felt" like it.

Marriage (I take it you are talking about marriage) is about making a commitment to love one another through all of life's struggles. Its about promising to stay committed to each other through the tough times as well as the good.

I wouldn't want to settle for anything less than that - do you?

There is really no point in committing yourself to a relationship without a promise, now is there??

Not really, that is like saying gasoline will not ignite when near a flame. It is impossible to commit oneself in a relationship w/o promises. When a person commits to a relationship with another person that means exclusively you are mine, I'm yours so to speak. Have you engaged your friend yet about an answer to your question. Please rethink your situation before you make your decision. Good luck

Are we talking about a dating relationship or a married man looking to score on the side and you think he's in love with you? What kind of commitment are you talking about. Your commited to him and he's doing his own thing. I think I would run, run, run.

If your talking about dating and commiting to just dating one person and seeing how it goes, that's another thing.

I think the answer is no.If you think about the whole relationship the answer is simple to understand.Promises, some times are just that. But, some times are reality.
