i realised i seem to see that lots of ppl who surround me who end up lasting together have been brought up the same, are of the same race/background or least a similar background, & of the same class .

i personally dont care... i think alot of ppl are like me, they dont care or base that for being the reason they date someone, or wanna be with someone... but do u think its almost like, fate, or a subconcious sure thing that will happen, like even tho its not necessarily what u always want, ur gonna end up with someone who has a rly rly similar life to u ?

i think it matters, that u both have similar outlooks on things, and feel the same way about stuff, have common wants, etc. but i dont think it rly matters or should matter wether ur the same race, class, and had the same upbringing, what do u guys think ???

Yes, I usually find people who were brought up with the same background, usually have the same ideas and beliefs, not always though but for the most part it's true.I think they understand each other more and know where they are both coming from.

I have dated people from different backgrounds and I have dated people with similar backgrounds, I often found myself feeling awkward or out of place with people whose families had different backgrounds, I learned lot from them, but when I dated people with the same backgrounds I just felt like they knew where I was coming from.

Hmm, you seem to be a reflective young person. But you have to take in account human nature and the dynamics of attractions. Each group or race of people have their own good and bad, ugly and beautiful, wealthy and poor, strong and weak, bright and dull, and vain and normal. We happen to live in a land where all these different races have migrated to. And over the years the taboo of inter-action has greatly diminished. There are many factors that contribute to this, the world shrinking because of world travels, the Internet, music, college and or university life, the medical profession. But there are still those things that people will always have to respect, and that is the family dynamics. And when all is said and done, when two people from different backgrounds or cultures bond together in love, it's when the children arrive that test that bond of love. As far as people making comments about interracial couples, this has always been a part of the society at large, here or anywhere you go. The people here are just more open and honest with their opinions. And many have the family experience to back up their opinions. When people can be true and honest with their selves and then the one that they find attractive, many of these problems will resolve themselves, such as the ones that you mentioned. Only God knows best!

I know divorced people that found that not having common beliefs and similar backgrounds made a big difference later on . When they had children, beliefs and class levels made too much of a difference when they could not agree on religion and family values.

I think outlooks on things and things in common definitely matter but not race, class, upbringing, money, etc. It's a social thing. Society can't decide love, or at least it shouldn't.

I think with different backgrounds and upbringing you would have a better time in your relationship. More to experience. I'm a city boy and my BF is a real cowboy.

You are correct it shouldn't matter but it does because we are more comfortable being around people who are similiar in class, race, beliefs, upbringing, social/economic status etc.

I don't think it is a requirement, but it is much easier to relate to someone who thinks similar to the way you do and holds the same values.
